Questions and answers about vaccination status

What are standard vaccinations?

Standard vaccinations are vaccinations that everyone should have obtained.

Standard vaccinations include:

  • Tetanus (lockjaw),
  • Diphtheria,
  • Pertussis (whooping cough),
  • Poliomyelitis (polio),
  • Measles,
  • Mumps,
  • Rubella,
  • Hepatitis B,
  • Varicella (chickenpox),
  • Zoster (shingles),
  • Influenza,
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV),
  • Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib),
  • Pneumococcus (streptococcus pneumoniae),
  • Meningococcus (neisseria meningitidis),
  • Rotavirus.

How is my vaccination status determined?

Your individual vaccination status is based on the standard vaccinations of the vaccination schedule relevant to your age, taking into account initial, catch-up and booster immunization. Immunization status is determined beginning at two years of age. The first 24 months of life are not yet resolved.

What does my immunization status mean?

Your vaccination status is broken down as follows:

  • Your vaccination status cannot be determined. Please enter your birthday and your vaccinations.
  • Booster and basic immunization incomplete or not available.
  • Booster vaccination complete, but basic immunization incomplete or not present.
  • No vaccinations required.
  • Not relevant to your age.

Why is no vaccination status for TBE, hepatitis A, or yellow fever displayed?

The vaccination status for indicated vaccinations (e.g. TBE), occupational vaccinations (e.g. hepatitis A), and travel vaccinations (e.g. yellow fever) is part of Vacuna's premium version. For all insured persons of the participating health insurances the premium version is free of charge. Just ask your health insurance if they already support Vacuna.

Why is the vaccination status for Covid-19 missing?

The vaccination status for Covid-19 is disabled on Google Play for legal reasons. In all other app stores (Huawei AppGallery, Samsung Galaxy Store, and Apple App Store) the vaccination status is available as usual.

Why can't I enter diseases I've been through?

You cannot enter diseases that have been passed for the time being, because an existing titer does not necessarily prove that a complete basic immunization has taken place (cf. the question "What should be done if there is no vaccination documentation?" in FAQ of the RKI).

How can I enter vaccination reminders?

Your vaccination due dates for standard vaccinations are determined automatically after you have entered your vaccinations. You will receive vaccination reminders as a push notification and as a notification in the app:

  • For upcoming vaccination dates, 1 month, 1 week, and 1 day before each vaccination due date.
  • for vaccination appointments to be made up, 1 week and 1 month after each vaccination due date.

Reminders of when you are due for vaccinations will allow you to make an appointment with your doctor in a timely manner.

Manual entry of doctor's appointments in Vacuna is not provided, as Vacuna is not intended to replace your personal calendar.

Which countries are supported?

The vaccination status is based on the following official vaccination schedules.

Can Vacuna replace a visit to the doctor?

Vacuna encourages you to look into your own vaccination status and thus serves as a self-check. Vacuna cannot replace a visit to the doctor.
